Research and Needs Analysis

Our diagnostic approach and comprehensive research form the basis for development of custom business solutions. Our consulting team examines the strengths and weaknesses of an organization through communication with staff and their management, their clients and, where appropriate, the competition. This investigation provides valuable information about the requirements of the job, the business environment, and the factors that contribute to achievement of goals. This approach includes a thorough analysis of previous training, participant strengths and areas for improvement, the factors that influence decision-makers, and the skills that can contribute to success within a given environment. Only then do we recommend strategies and training that address critical skills and develop a program that meets the company's business objectives.

Feedback and Discussion with Management

A research report is prepared and presented to management, identifying all aspects of the business problem or issue, not just those that should be addressed through training. Appropriate resources are allocated and a project plan is created.

Design, Development, and Delivery

Based on research results, and in accordance with the project plan, a program is designed to meet the specific training needs and performance goals of the organization. A design document is developed, specifying learning objectives, sequence of events, key content, media, learning activities, and performance assessments. Upon review and approval by management, the design document serves as the blueprint for program development. Program materials are developed and submitted for review by management and subject matter experts. Any necessary revisions are made before materials are produced in their final form. In cases where delivery is to be handled in-house, train-the-trainer sessions are held to transfer the program to the in-house experts. Otherwise, TMC Group consultants implement the program.

Design, Development, and Delivery of Training for Management

In many instances, successful improvement of business performance requires some corresponding changes in management skills, knowledge, and practices. In such cases, a management level version of the training is designed and developed in parallel with the training for the actual job performers, using the same methodology.

Team-Building

To support the desired changes in job performance, team-building sessions are often required, to help make sure that the new way of doing things becomes accepted as the way things are done. A TMC Group consultant facilitates formal and/or informal team workshops, meetings, or discussion sessions. These sessions are aimed at helping employees recognize the interdependencies inherent in any work process and at encouraging the development of effective team behaviors.

Follow-Up Training and Recommendations

The greatest problem with most business and performance initiative is the lack of follow-up. Effective follow-up compels the participants to apply the material they learn to their work situations. For that reason, TMC Group always recommends a follow-up component to ensure that the training is a process rather than an event. At the end of each project, TMC Group assesses the extent to which the desired goals have been achieved and makes appropriate recommendations to management.
